Dear Dr. Fox:
I'm concerned about my bright-eyed, lively cat, Sophocles. The
first six years I owned her, she was remote and distant. Then,
following a tumultuous move and separation from me for several
months, she became more affectionate. In recent years, she has become
a problem in that she craves a great deal of affection -- sleeping
right next to my pillow, coming over to be petted four or five times
an evening, and never leaving my side. I just can't say no to her --
should I? How? Unfortunately, it's not possible to get another cat,
even though she loves other cats. I'm hoping you can help me.
