William J. O'Brien, 85, a retired federal administrative law
judge, died Saturday at his home in Wilmette.
Judge O'Brien, a Chicago native, earned his law degree from
DePaul University in 1938 and worked as general solicitor for the
Illinois Central Railroad from 1938 until 1974.
Judge O'Brien joined the Interstate Commerce Commission as an
administrative law judge in 1974, then worked for the Social Security
Commission from 1981 to 1987 and for the federal Department of Labor
from 1987 until he retired in ...
