In the 17th Ward, he's gone but not forgotten.
Former Ald. Allan K. Streeter, who held office for 15 years,
resigned last April after pleading guilty to federal charges that he
collected more than $37,000 in bribes.
Interim Ald. Terry Peterson, Streeter's former chief of staff
and a former aide to Mayor Daley, is favored to win the remainder of
Streeter's unexpired term over four challengers in the Feb. 25
special election.
The South Side ward includes parts of West Chatham, Englewood,
West Englewood, Grand Crossing and Auburn Gresham. Ogden Park is on
the ward's northern boundary and Hamilton Park is in the eastern part
of the ward.
