What a long, strange trip it has been for Mike Vernon.

Left for dead as the Red Wings goalie on more than one occasion, Vernon is grateful he will be in net for Detroit on Saturday (7 p.m., Fox-32) when the Red Wings take the ice in Philadelphia for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals.
