It was an apolitical crowd on the platform at the National Airport Metro station yesterday, passengers less concerned about whether Ronald Reagan's name is on the station signs than the fact it could cost $400,000 to insert it.

"It seems like a waste of money," said Rich Coffin, a federal worker from Springfield who was waiting for a Blue Line train as planes soared above. "We're debating things like that? It seems like we have better things to do."

But others agreed with the group of about two dozen Republican congressmen who say it's confusing if the Metro station's name doesn't match that of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
