DICKEYVILLE, Wis. One of the Badger State's best color routes takes
leaf-peepers along the Great River Road, where you can spend a day,
weekend or a month of Sundays exploring Mother Nature's amazing
Technicolor dreamcoat.
From small-town Dickeyville in the extreme southwest corner of the
state to St. Croix Falls in the north, this scenic highway flanks the
upper Mississippi River for more than 300 miles. Cities, bluff-top
towns and hamlets follow the graceful curves and sweeps of the river,
offering autumn-tinged surprises around every bend.
