Do you cherish the flaws, scratches, dents and other
imperfections of antiques?
Many believe the beauty of a piece of quality furniture
improves with the patina of age.
Today this aged or distressed look of painted furniture is
extremely popular and is used either in accent pieces or to decorate
entire rooms.
So it's being hurried in the factory with a barrage of
well-placed whacks with chains and mesh bags filled with nails.
You can use these same techniques at home to distress either
unpainted new furniture or a well-made but scruffy piece from your
attic or a garage sale.
