McDonald's Corp. is rolling out two new sandwiches for the East
and West coasts, with one - the Big Xtra - aimed at taking a bite out
of Burger King's Whopper.
The Oak Brook hamburger behemoth announced Friday that it is
introducing the Big Xtra to 270 restaurants in parts of Pennsylvania,
New Jersey and Delaware. The company makes clear that the sandwich
is part of an offensive against its rival.
"The McDonald's Big Xtra has 20 percent more beef than a Burger
King Whopper," said Chris Gabriel, spokesman for a group of
McDonald's restaurants in Delaware.
"Our everyday $2.99 extra value meal price means customers will
get 20 percent more beef and 25 percent more fries with their meal ...
