Now the Secret Square is revealed.
Whoopi Goldberg, the master of a dizzying number of incarnations
as a comedian, actress and pitchwoman, has been selected as this
year's winner of the Kennedy Center's Mark Twain Prize for American
Humor.
Now in its fourth year, the award was established in honor of Mark
Twain, the social commentator, novelist and essayist, as a way to
highlight a craft that has a large audience but often isn't afforded
much status at performing-arts venues like the Kennedy Center. It
will be presented Oct. 15 at the center's Concert Hall.
