Americans buy 1 million boxes of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese every day.
See? You're not the only one. Those dry mixes of elbow
macaroni and cheese that you've been sneaking into your grocery cart
make you a player in a $500-million-a-year industry.
And that doesn't take into account the macaroni-and-cheese
dinners that line the freezer cases, which are part of a
$4-billion-a-year frozen-entree market.
The National Frozen Food Association can't say exactly how much
of the frozen-dinner figure is mac & cheese and how much is, say,
lasagna or Salisbury steak. But add whatever the amount is to the
dry mixes' $500 million and we're clearly talking about a whole lot
of macaroni and cheese.
