It has been the state's most successful boys basketball
conference so far this postseason, but it's not even the most
popular league in Chicago.
The Catholic League doesn't enjoy the prestige of the Public
League, but it might be about to take a bigger share of the
spotlight. Because while the Public League has one state
quarterfinal spot guaranteed, the Catholic League could have as many
as three quarterfinalists and possibly two state champions.
Eight of the 15 Catholic League teams won regionals, and South
champion Leo will face St. Francis de Sales Tuesday in the Class A
Kankakee Supersectional.
