Scottie Pippen's back-for-the-future campaign has begun.

Jimmy Sexton, Pippen's Memphis-based agent, confirmed the free-agent superstar underwent back surgery Monday morning at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

"Things went well," Sexton said late Tuesday night from a downtown hotel. "We wanted to get this business behind us, begin rehab and prepare for the next phase of Scottie's career after the lockout is over."
