Scottie Pippen's back-for-the-future campaign has begun.
Jimmy Sexton, Pippen's Memphis-based agent, confirmed the
free-agent superstar underwent back surgery Monday morning at
Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
"Things went well," Sexton said late Tuesday night from a
downtown hotel. "We wanted to get this business behind us, begin
rehab and prepare for the next phase of Scottie's career after the
lockout is over."
Whether that career will resume with the Bulls remains
uncertain. Pippen completed a five-year, $18 million deal last
season. With a 1997-98 salary of $2,775,000, he was only the
sixth-highest-paid member of the team, behind Michael Jordan ($33.14
million), Ron Harper ($4.58 ...
