The stately 1956 Cadillac Coupe de Ville two-door hardtop had the
style and gold-plated luxury expected from Cadillac in that
free-swinging U.S. auto decade.
But technical improvements were making 1956 Cadillacs, including
the racy shark-fin Eldorado Seville, the envy of the world's luxury
car producers.
"Far-seeing innovations and changes in engineering and design
have enabled Cadillac to maintain its position of leadership," said
the formal-looking 1956 Cadillac owner's manual, which has the
automaker's signature gold crest decorating its plain white cover.
"And," said the manual, "as the changes have been made, as the
cars have become more complex and luxurious, Cadillac operation ...
