Article: Coupe de Ville clicks in '56 // Innovations give Caddy strong edge

The stately 1956 Cadillac Coupe de Ville two-door hardtop had the style and gold-plated luxury expected from Cadillac in that free-swinging U.S. auto decade.

But technical improvements were making 1956 Cadillacs, including the racy shark-fin Eldorado Seville, the envy of the world's luxury car producers.

"Far-seeing innovations and changes in engineering and design have enabled Cadillac to maintain its position of leadership," said the formal-looking 1956 Cadillac owner's manual, which has the automaker's signature gold crest decorating its plain white cover.
