Article: Dairy products may ward off colon cancer

Greater consumption of low-fat milk, cheese and yogurt seems to reduce the risk of developing colon cancer, according to a new study published today.

"I certainly think it's reasonable from these results to say that increasing consumption of dairy foods, which has long been recommended to prevent osteoporosis, should also be considered as a preventative measure for those at risk of colon cancer," said Dr. Peter Holt, a professor of medicine at Columbia University and lead author of the study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
