REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - Oracle Corp. and Sun Microsystems Inc. will
announce an agreement today to sell powerful computer servers that
will let businesses access database software without using an
operating system such as Microsoft Corp.'s Windows NT, analysts said.
Oracle, the No. 1 database softwaremaker, will supply the software,
and Sun, the world's largest maker of computer workstations, will
make the hardware for the new appliances, said Rob Enderle, an
analyst at market researcher Giga Information Group, and Vernon
Keenan, an Internet analyst at Keenan Vision Inc.
