BOSTON Suddenly, Denis Leary and Ted Demme don't just sound like old friends and creative partners, they sound like bombardiers reliving a mission.

The object of their payload is singer Fiona Apple. Leary's recent comedy CD and Demme-directed HBO special, both called "Denis Leary: Lock 'n' Load," featured Janeane Garofalo parodying Fiona's preachy acceptance speech at the MTV Awards.
