To avoid any conflict of interest, Cook County Circuit Court
Clerk Aurelia Pucinski says she should be divorced in DuPage or Lake
county.
Pucinski filed divorce papers in Lake County last December to
end her 25-year marriage to James W. Keithley. But Keithley's
attorney persuaded Lake County Judge David Hall to ship the case to
Cook County, where Pucinski lives.
The case was filed with Pucinski's office last Friday and
assigned to Cook County Judge Carole Bellows.
Pucinski's attorney, Joan Grant, said the clerk was worried
about the "public perception" of having a case pending in the court
system where she was elected to supervise clerks who aid judges and
keep all files.
