The last thing Cubs fans need now is a snow job. So hopefully the club's two-squad caravan that will slide into Illinois and Indiana cities Wednesday and Thursday won't be a cold reminder of the franchise's ice age.

Sammy Sosa and Kerry Wood won't make these trips, and manager Jim Riggleman isn't about to turn Wood loose for his sophomore season in the majors, either. Riggleman remains cautious about overtaxing Wood's troublesome right elbow after a sprained ulnar collateral ligament kept him sidelined for the final month of the regular season.
