Q. Is there some kind of nutritional deficiency that would cause
me to be losing large amounts of hair in my brush?
A. It is normal to shed hairs each day, but suddenly increased
amounts of loss can occur about two to four months after stress such
as high fever, surgery, childbirth or rapid weight loss. There are
no particular vitamin or mineral deficiencies associated with hair
loss.
Check to see that you are getting enough protein (that's what
hair is made of) and calories. If you've been on a strict
weight-loss diet, back off a bit and create more adequate, balanced
eating habits. If your consumption of meats and dairy products is
