Homemade gourmet pizza can be heart-healthy when you use
imagination and creativity.
Great homemade pizza is not difficult to make. It can be as
simple or as complex as you want it to be. Pizza is defined as a
baked pie of Italian origin consisting of a shallow breadlike crust
covered with seasoned tomato sauce, cheese and often other toppings,
such as sausage or olives. We eat billions of slices of pizza each
year.
To make nutritious pizza, focus on its construction. Crust: You
can make your own pizza crust. If you have no time to make a crust,
use a prepared crust with less than 2 grams of fat per serving.
