Jim Riggleman's critics better take a seat.
They might be flabbergasted to hear that, as Memorial Day
approaches, the Cubs' skipper is one of the favorites to contend for
National League Manager of the Year.
Let's go even further. If the season finished today, Riggleman
would probably win it.
He has overcome the following obstacles, just to name a few: Kerry
Wood's season-ending injury, Rod Beck's early woes and current stint
on the disabled list, Gary Gaetti's slump, Kevin Tapani's bout with a
sore shoulder, a weak bench and an inexperienced bullpen.
He can't be using mirrors. He must know something all those
booing fans and Joe Morgan don't. Morgan has sniped at Riggleman
from his ESPN ...
