Watching Martin McDonagh's "The Beauty Queen of Leenane" is the theatrical equivalent of reading the gruesome tales in a supermarket scandal sheet. And if you look closely - beyond the fine performances of the actors in the Steppenwolf Theatre production that opened this weekend - you will realize his play has just about as much depth as those tales.
