Article: Nostalgia drives new Monte Carlo Chevrolet combines luxury, affordability

Chevrolet is putting lots of nostalgia behind its revamped, slick 2000 Monte Carlo, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

The new model no longer is a two-door version of a Chevy sedan. It resembles the original model in that it looks sharp, goes fast and combines luxury and practicality at affordable prices.

The first Monte Carlo debuted in September 1969 for the 1970 model year. It came in high-performance SS form, and so does the new Monte Carlo. The 2000 model has the same long hood/short rear configuration of the 1970 model, which had the longest hood ever put on a Chevy.
