MADISON, Wis. How many yards does it take to silence the critics? For Ron Dayne, 4,000 yards weren't enough. And 5,000 yards weren't enough. Even 6,000 yards weren't enough. You think maybe 6,397 yards will do the trick?

Dayne's 6,280th yard, the one that made him the all-time leading rusher in NCAA Division I history, came during the first half as part of a 31-yard run in which he juked, stopped, started, high-stepped and ran over and through several would-be Iowa tacklers.

"The only thing that would have been better is if he had run into the end zone," Wisconsin coach Barry Alvarez said.
