Come our millennium summer, Chicago will be extending a grand new
downtown welcome for young people coming from all across the country
and the world: A bed for the night for $22 at the fourth-largest
youth hostel in the world.
The Hostelling International-Chicago organization is already at
work transforming a vacant building at the corner of Wabash and
Congress into a 500-bed hostel projected to draw 73,000 overnight
stays a year. Of those, 55,000 are projected to be international
travelers.
The location could not be finer for impressing newcomer travelers -
smack dab amid some of the city's grandest showcase attractions, such
as the Art Institute, lakefront museums, Symphony Center, the ...
