Article: Leonard F. Kohl, lawyer and coach

Leonard F. Kohl, a longtime Rogers Park lawyer and a former football coach in parochial schools, died Friday; of heart failure while on a trip to Cedarburg, Wis. He was 67.

Mr. Kohl practiced real estate, probate and corporate law from an office at Montrose and Elston for 20 years, then moved his office to Peterson and Maplewood in 1983.

Although he began to lose his sight, Mr. Kohl continued practicing with the help of his wife, Velma, and others in the neighborhood who would read to him and drive him to appointments.

"He had tremendous support in the community," his wife said.

Mr. Kohl was a volunteer football coach at St. Margaret Mary Catholic School. Students who knew that he had ...
