He graduated from law school in 1946 and jumped into a law firm
that grew to become one of the biggest and most powerful in the city.
Along the way, Addis E. Hull became a nationally recognized expert
in real estate planning, probate, tax and matrimonial law who made
headlines in 1980 when he and a law partner secured the largest
divorce settlement to date in Illinois, negotiating a $7.8 million
deal for Lois Teinowitz, the wife of a real estate developer.
Mr. Hull, 80, died Wednesday at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview.
"The word `gentleman' was coined to describe people like Addis,"
