A bizarre football hazing incident at Stevenson High School last
summer received closure today in a Lake County courtroom when two
players plea bargained to charges of disorderly conduct.
Blake Cooley, 17, of Kildeer, and David Davis, 17, of Buffalo
Grove, had been charged with battery for their part in a hazing
ritual where a peeled banana was pushed into the buttocks of two
junior varsity players.
They received $100 fines and court supervision until graduation,
and publicly apologized for the incident.
Cooley was expelled from the team, and Davis was suspended for two
games. Both were accompanied in court by their parents and remained
stoic as Davis read the apology signed by both boys:
