Article: Ping-Pong: Net result likely to be boredom

With the exception of self-consciously crabby types, we liked the cows. The cows were whimsical street art.

But let's face it: By the end of last summer, we were getting sick of sidestepping those colorful plastic bovines. We were cow-ed out.

In fact, we were in a cow-tipping state of mind. If one more camera-toting tour group blocked our paths as we tried to navigate that plaza by the Wrigley Building, it could've turned ugly.

So when the cows went home, so to speak, we cheered. Summer 2000 would surely be gimmick-free!

Well, don't look now, but we're facing a season of Ping-Pong tables, if you can believe it.

Ping-Pong games in malls. Ping-Pong games in the lobbies of downtown buildings. ...
