The number of sports cars is growing, which is especially good
news now because no auto is more suited to warm-weather driving fun
than a sports car.
And we mean sports cars-not "sporty" cars like the Ford Mustang or
Chevrolet Camaro, which often have mistakenly been referred to as
sports cars.
Sports cars mostly are two-seaters designed expressly for driving
kicks, with such attributes as cat-like handling. Sporty cars
generally have a rear seat and softer-edged personalities.
A strong U.S. economy spurred foreign automakers to sell Americans
new sports cars in the 1950s and to open up the market for such cars
here. The British MG, Triumph, Austin-Healey and Jaguar practically
