Philadelphia has produced its share of nationally recognized
contemporary dance companies -- foremost among them Philadanco and
Rennie Harris/Puremovement. Judging from its performance at Dance
Place Saturday night, Eleone Dance Theatre is poised to follow suit.
From the dancers' first steps on the intimate black-box stage it
was clear that, in addition to its potent energy level, this company
boasted a high degree of professionalism. Precision and musical
timing gave "And Now I'm Free" its power. The dancers whipped onstage
one by one swirling scarves above their heads, their arms and
undulating upper bodies echoing the curves of the billowing silk.
