Ever since the electric hand dryer was invented 52 years ago in Chicago, paper towels have been blowing them away in terms of speed and efficiency.

But a Massachussetts company hopes to change all that with a new hot-air machine it claims can dry your hands in just 12 seconds- about the same time it takes to do it the old-fashioned way.

"The main objection with using a hand dryer is that it takes too long," Excel Dryer Corp. president Denis Gagnon said Tuesday. "We've solved that problem."
