The pomegranate is one classy piece of fruit.
Stylishly conceived, it might even be considered a kind of
designer produce. Six-sided and shaped like an orange with a
decorative crown, the thin, red, leathery exterior protects numerous
seeds that are covered by sacs of jewellike crimson pulp, all encased
in a white, bitter, spongy membrane.
This glamorous fruit is now in season and available through
December in the produce sections of local supermarkets to enjoy
eating out of hand or adding to a variety of dishes for color, flavor
and texture.
Many cultures use the fruit as an embellishment and to boost
