Article: Gidwitz may want 325 N. Wells back

An aggressive, public-spirited and image-conscious corporate chief, Ronald Gidwitz just might be coming home again.

In this case, "home" is the 10-story office building at 325 N. Wells that Gidwitz erected in the 1980s. It was a monument to himself and his family's Helene Curtis Industries Inc., topped off with a posh boardroom overlooking the Chicago River.

Gidwitz sold Helene Curtis in 1996 to Unilever NV, which couldn't figure out a need for glamorous office space. So it's putting the 110,000-square-foot building on the market.

Asked if he's interested in the property, Gidwitz said, "I'd be pleased to talk to them about it."
