Orioles 11, Red Sox 5 Reprinted from yesterday's late editions
Joe Kerrigan and Mike Hargrove have vastly different missions as
the baseball season enters its final six weeks. Kerrigan, on his
second day on the job as manager of the Boston Red Sox, is charged
with stabilizing and energizing a team racked by injuries and
infighting but still within reach of a playoff berth. Hargrove,
piloting a Baltimore Orioles team stuck in fourth place, has little
choice but to treat these final six weeks as a preview of the future.
Although Hargrove would almost certainly trade places given the
choice, Friday night his Orioles pounded the Red Sox, 11-5, in front
