Article: GORE MAKES LAST STAND FLORIDA LAWMAKERS CALL SPECIAL SESSION AS VP GOES TO SUPREME COURT

TALLAHASSEE Al Gore's effort to overturn George W. Bush's narrow victory moves back to the Florida Supreme Court today, while GOP state lawmakers scheduled a special session Friday to appoint presidential electors in case the court battles rage too long.

Gore is appealing a lower court ruling that decisively rejected his challenge of Bush's certified 537-vote win. An hour of oral arguments was scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Chicago time.
