The future of Al Gore and George W. Bush rests with judges in
Florida courtrooms who are weighing arguments over state election
laws.
While they consider precedents and legal interpretation, voters
have been left to ponder other questions. Here are some of the things
they are asking.
Q. Can the Florida Supreme Court just say yes or no to Gore's
appeal, or are there other options?
A. There are several ways the court can rule. It can affirm Leon
County Circuit Court Judge N. Sanders Sauls' decision. If that
happens, Gore could appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Florida Supreme Court could also decline to rule. Or the court
could send the case back to Judge Sauls and order him to clarify ...
