McDonald's executives conceded Wednesday, the same day that
analysts forecast record-low first-quarter earnings, that the "Made
for You" cooking system needs work.
To speed up the fast-food service, workers at the front counter
will deal only with the customer and will stop helping fill orders,
said Jack Greenberg, chairman and CEO of the Oak Brook-based fast-
food chain.
About 500 McDonald's restaurants nationwide have started the new
customer-service system.
The Made for You system lets customers order hamburgers and
sandwiches to their specifications. In the fourth quarter, ended Dec.
31, 23 percent of customers rated McDonald's excellent for speed of
