Article: Record run for Dunn at Route 66 Raceway

When drag racer Mike Dunn comes to Joliet, it's the best of times or the worst of times.

On Friday, it was the best of times. Dunn made a pass of 330.55 mph during top-fuel qualifying, the third-fastest in the National Hod Rod Association's 50-year history. It became a national record when Dunn's second qualifying attempt of 329.02 was within the required 1 percent of that speed.

"The (first) run was perfect," said the top-fuel driver, who posted the two fastest times in NHRA history (331.61 and 331.53) earlier this season.
