Old news is good news for Magazine Memories

Yesterday's headlines inspire a suburban retailer to share memories with collectors.

Magazine Memories in Morton Grove houses more than 100,000 pieces of memorabilia in the form of newspapers, magazines, movie posters and cardboard stand-ups of celebrities and politicians.

Bob Katzman, founder and owner of the store, stumbled onto collecting as a teenager in 1963. Moved by the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Katzman began collecting periodicals with historically significant headlines.

The hobbyist revealed his entrepreneurial skills at an early age, opening Bob's News Stand when he was 15.
