CLEVELAND--Players sat stunned in the dugout, the way they do
during postseason losses. But this was a regular-season loss that
should squelch any more thoughts of the White Sox returning to the
playoffs this season.
Kenny Lofton's RBI double in the ninth inning off closer Keith
Foulke lifted the first-place Indians to an 8-7 victory that capped a
dramatic game Saturday night.
The loss pushed the Sox, who blew a three-run lead, back to eight
games behind the Indians with 20 left.
Though two games remain in this series, it was sweep or bust for
the defending division champs.
