Don't forget cooling system even during winter months

A car's cooling system has two functions: to prevent overheating in the summer and protect against no-starts in cold weather by helping the engine heat up.

Since coolant circulates through the heater core, problems in the cooling system can translate to heater problems as well.

Some late-model cars are equipped with extended life coolant, designed to run 100,000 to 150,000 miles between service intervals. These cooling systems are sealed, and car owners should refer to their owner's manual for service and repair recommendations.
