Article: Tribune can take Cubs, walk: Daley Wrigley Field expansion 'not a priority,' mayor says

If the Tribune Co. wants to pull the Cubs out of Wrigley Field, so be it, Mayor Daley said Friday, insisting he will not be rushed or bullied into approving plans for more night games and bleacher seats.

"If they want to go, they can go. Are they threatening us? I get those threats all the time," the mayor said.

Where the Cubs play baseball is "up to them--not me. I don't own this team. That's a moneymaker for the Chicago Tribune. That's a big moneymaker."

Daley said the Tribune Co. would be treated "like any other company" seeking approval for an expansion that impacts the community.

"This is not a priority," he said.
