The Toronto Blue Jays have no immediate plans to promote Deion
Sanders to the major leagues, assistant general manager Dave Stewart
said yesterday. Stewart said the team will not be influenced by
Sanders's football contract, which would require him to report to
training camp with the Washington Redskins July 29 if he is not
playing in the majors.
"Right now, the numbers don't indicate he deserves that shot,"
Stewart said. "We're only going to bring him to the big leagues if he
deserves it. We're going to play it out and see how things go. I
don't know what's going to happen. We signed him with the full
knowledge he had a football ...
