Forget the great American novel. It's always been my dream to
write the great American romance novel.
Ever since I read the unforgettable "Sweet Dreams" romance The
Popularity Plan, I've known what I was called to do: to re-create
that same feeling of joy and confidence in other teenage girls. And
to teach them how to talk to teenage boys.
(Don't even get me started on The Popularity Summer. It was one of
those precious rarities in which a sequel surpasses its original--
like "Godfather II.")
For 20 years, I've been researching my plot--the poignant tale of
a simple suburban girl who finds love, misplaces love, hunts love
down and whines for a commitment, all set against the dramatic ...
