Failure no option for these Hawks Sutter brings determination to a team too used to losing

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--When Brian Sutter was 15 years old and 120 miles from home, he called his father to tell him he hadn't made his junior team and needed a ride home. But his father, Louie, wouldn't come get his son and instead told him he better go back and reassess the situation.

It was like anything else,'' Sutter said. If you were dropped off in a field to haul 1,000 bales of hay, you hauled 1,000 bales of hay. If you were dropped off in a town to make a hockey team, you made the hockey team.''

Failure wasn't acceptable.
