Article: RBS set to serve Montague petition

ROBERT MONTAGUE, the embattled chief executive of Central Transport Rental Group, formerly called Tiphook, will be officially served with a bankruptcy petition for pounds 2.3m by Royal Bank of Scotland "in the next few days", the bank said yesterday.

The bankruptcy petition came to light two weeks ago at Tiphook's annual meeting, and it later emerged that Mr Montague's personal debts exceeded pounds 30m.

Sources close to Mr Montague had insisted he would be able to come to an agreement with his creditors and head off the bankruptcy petition, but if it is served this will be more difficult.
