Jonathan B. Bricker, a psychologist at the University of
Washington and co-author of "Something Stressful in the Air: A Web-
Based Study of Personality and Business Air Travel," specializes in
air travel anxiety research. We interviewed Bricker from his office
in Seattle.

A Fear of flying is anxiety experienced in anticipation of, or on,
a flight, in which your central fear is death. Air-travel stress is a
sense of being angry or upset when you are anticipating or dealing
with the hassles of air travel -- long lines, invasive security,
flight delays.
