Connoisseurs of High Art have a reputation for being a tad
precious, but even the more hardy among them should be prepared for
a shock if they visit the studio of Beau Bradford in Los Angeles.
The copies of the Impressionist and Modern masters that fill the
room are expertly executed, but with one notable difference. Amid
the thickly textured purple blooms of Van Gogh's Irises stands
Lady, a cocker spaniel belonging to a rich Californian estate agent.
A black and white cat called Drop Kick is stalking across the
stark squares of an otherwise immaculate copy of Piet Mondrian's
Composition in Red, Yellow and Blue. Andy Warhol's series of
