Last week, a group of people from the music and fashion
industries gathered in a London gallery to admire the wallpaper.
Musical wallpaper, that is. Among the choices issuing from the
speakers were John Keating's sumptuous arrangement of "Jesus Christ
Superstar" and the thrills and spills of "The Night Rider" - that's
the tune to the Milk Tray television ad ("and all because the lady
loves. . .") to you and me.
The event served as the launch of The Sound Gallery, an album of
"some of the most exciting mood music ever recorded". In fact, the
album is the latest mark in the resurgence of that indistinct - and
derided - genre, easy listening. Easy listening clubs have existed
